Once in a blue moon...

A blue moon - the second full moon of the month - is set to welcome in the new year.

The first full moon was on December 2
But don't expect it to be blue, for the name has nothing to do with the colour of our closest celestial neighbour.
The New Year's Eve "blue moon" will be visible over Africa, South America, the US, Canada and Europe.
For partygoers in Australia and Asia, the full moon does not show up until New Year's Day, making January a blue moon month for them.
The eastern hemisphere can celebrate with a partial lunar eclipse on New Year's Eve when part of the moon enters the Earth's shadow.
"A very small eclipse of the full moon will be visible from all over South Africa. The eclipse starts at 8.51pm on December 31," said Dr Claire Flanagan, of the Johannesburg Planetarium at Wits University.
Partygoers will see a slight blurring of the moon.
A full moon occurs every 29.5 days, and most years have 12. On average, an extra full moon in a month - a blue moon - occurs every 2.5 years. The last time there was a lunar double take was in May 2007.
New Year's Eve blue moons are rarer, occurring every 19 years. The last time was in 1990; the next one won't be until 2028.
Blue moons had no astronomical significance, said Greg Laughlin, an astronomer at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
"Blue moon is just a name in the same sense as a hunter's moon or a harvest moon," Laughlin said in an e-mail.
The popular definition of blue moon came about after a writer for Sky & Telescope magazine in 1946 misinterpreted the Maine Farmer's Almanac and labelled a blue moon as the second full moon in a month.
The almanac had defined a blue moon as the third full moon in a season with four full moons, not the usual three.
Although Sky & Telescope corrected the error decades later, the definition caught on.

Green Monday

In my humble opinion, Mondays are green, not blue. Why? do you ask...  Let me explain...

Do not think green as in environmentally friendly. Scenario: You've been waiting months for the warm summer days to arrive, waiting and dreaming of your first dip into the lovely blue swimming pool. The first warm weekend, you pack your bathing clothes, suntan lotion and party favours all set for a lovely day at the pool. Then you arrive. The shock, the horror!  But above all, the dread sinking feeling of all has been taken away from away you:  the blue sparkly waters from your memory is in reality now turned a sickly yellowish green with slime on the sides and who-knows-what breeding underneath.  No swimming for as while.  :(

That is why Mondays are green, not blue as a summer sky with lazy pure white cotton clouds drifting lazily around... 
Saturdays are blue, not Mondays.  ^__^

Neptune Turns Direct: Confusion or Clarity?


Neptune is the planet of spirit and faith. It governs our dreams and intuitions, our spirituality, imagination, delusions and addictions. This is the planet that can lead us to our higher purpose, dissolve our personally created limitations and boundaries, or send us spiraling into the murky depths of grief and chaos. Neptune energy can be harnessed for growth and change, particularly when we take the time to embrace the energy and the lessons Neptune gently or brutally is sending our way. Neptune is a slow planet and takes 14 years to transit through a sign, and 165 years to orbit the sun. It has been retrograde since May 28, and finally turns direct on November 4.


Neptune retrograde periods encourage us to reflect on our past, to contemplate our connectedness with ourselves, emotions, and spirituality. The retrograde periods can be a time of denial, delusion, and escapism - often bringing us to our lowest points, whereupon we come to the conclusion that we need to grow, evolve or change.

When Neptune turns direct it is time to implement the needed changes that the retrograde has brought to light. For most, this is a time of clarity - we create and receive less drama, are more aware of deceptions and manipulations, and even can recognize and break our negative and codependent tendencies.

Saturn Enters Libra

Saturn, the planet of discipline, is a slow moving planet which stays an average of two and a half years in each sign of the zodiac. On October 29, Saturn moves from Virgo into Libra impacting many areas of our lives, especially our relationships and love life. And for the next three years our focus and energy is towards peace, fairness, and a well balanced life.


Saturn's task in Libra is to create harmonious relationships, and break up relationships that are no longer useful or positive for you. You will become acutely aware of any relationship which is unfair and will seek to balance the scales of equality and have peace and harmony in your life.

Ready... set.... go!!

Jupiter the planet of luck, grace, favor and fortune has been retrograde since June 15. We may have all felt that our forward momentum had slowed down or even stalled. We may all have experienced a tightening of our wallets as well, since Jupiter brings wealth, abundance, and optimism. Our successes, accomplishments and prosperity are also all within the realm of the grace this large planet bestows upon us. So if you’ve felt a bit thwarted since June, you will start to see more forward movement happening when Jupiter turns direct on October 12-13 -- giving us all a green light. Venus’ entrance into social Libra on October 14 and Mars’ transit into fun Leo on October 16 adds stimulus for us to move ahead at full speed!

The Truth about Pentagrams

The Pentagram means different things to different people. Some may argue as to what it represents, but I will tell you the real meaning of it. The Pentagram right side up represents God ruling over the world of matter. The 5 points represent the 5 places that Christ was wounded. Let us not forget that it also represents the elements, water, air, earth, fire and spirit.

There is also the upside-down Pentagram. It represents Satan or the world of matter ruling over God. It is the same as denouncing God. To wear it is to attract evil around you. Normally Satanists or devil worshipers and wannabe’s who like to pretend that they are evil only wear it!

Many mainstream religion believers think that they are both evil and represent the Devil. But that is because they are so...ignorant and blind to the fact that there is a difference. It shows their lack of study on the true facts of history. I wear the right side up Pentagram.

Memoirs of Rivien - Chapter I

I'm trying my hand at writing, and am busy writing the story of the adventures I partook in, in a Dungeons and Dragons game. It is written through the eyes of my character.

Here is the first chapter, please let me know what you think...


Chapter I
I was busy having breakfast in the Weeping Oak, reminiscing about our latest adventures when a smallish squire walked up to me.

“Lady Rivien, I have a note for you.” and handed me a piece of parchment.
“Thank you.” I smiled at him. “But if I may inquire, who sent the note?”
“Lord Darius” he replied.

I tipped him a copper piece and he quickly ran off. With a thumping heart I slowly opened it. It was a detailed map with directions on it and a time, seven that evening.
Wondering what this could mean, I paid my bill and went up to my room.

On the bed, the most beautiful evening gown lay spread out. It was an azure silk confection with dark blue chiffon over it that shimmered to black as it moved in my hands. A corset of the same hue accompanied it. It had rhinestones sewn into the trimming and the bodice which enhanced its beauty. A small note caught my eye. As I opened it, two words were written on it:

I decided that I had to bath before I could slip into the fancy gown. I almost ran to the bathhouse. Giddily, I added bath oils to the warm water and slowly lowered myself in. A couple of women appeared and attempted to start wash my hair.

“What are you doing?!”
“Shush deary, we have been sent to help you get ready!”
“By whom?!”
“Now, now. Not to worry. A very handsome young man has requested this for you.” She sighed. ”I wish I had such a handsome lad who spoiled me rotten…”

I relaxed and gave in to their capable hands and started daydreaming about the evening’s events.
The ladies gave me a manicure, pedicure and did my hair very fancy up. Skilfully they applied make-up to my face and then helped me into the evening gown and fastened the corset very, very tight.

As it was nearing seven, I gracefully descended the stairs. In the inn below, a few of my fellow adventurers were enjoying dinner. Thomas’ and Sway’s chins dropped as they saw me. They almost didn’t recognize me. Both of them walked over.
“You look really beautiful, milady.” Sway said in awe. Thomas, the bard also complimented my exquisiteness, saying, “A rose by any other name, could not compare to you tonight”
With a thank you and a big smile I went out and started to follow the map. It led me to the magnificent Temple of Helm. I went in and ascended a staircase. A few steps up I noticed red rose petals strewn in a trail leading up. As I climbed the last step and looked up, I stopped dead in my tracks. The whole floor was covered in red and pink rose petals! Fairy lights softly illuminated the scene. The sight that met my eyes included a magnificent view of the sun disappearing behind the mountains. In the far corner, partly hidden by shadows, a tall handsome figure stood with his back to me. My heart leapt as I realized it was Darius. He had donned his full ceremonial clerical vestments and looked more dashing than ever. Darius slowly turned around and smiled. My knees felt like jelly. He moved towards me and elegantly complimented me as he gave me a hundred red roses. Speechless, I could only blush. I was led to the table and he helped me getting seated. Both of us were a little uncertain of what to do in this awkward situation. As we were sipping wine and idly chatting, waiters came in, bearing wine and a great delicacy. It was mushrooms, crumbed, with a delicate aroma; we both enjoyed it very much. We slowly completed a five- course meal, chatting and laughing and having a marvelous time.

After dinner he helped me out of my chair like a true gentleman and gave me his arm as we descended the stairs. Outside the temple a pristine white carriage, trimmed in ebony was awaiting me. Four temple guards in full armor were waiting with it, to escort me home. As he helped me into the carriage, Darius slowly lowered his head, closer to mine. I raised mine in anticipation. Just as our lips would have met, he quickly and naturally turned his head and planted a soft kiss on my cheek. He then withdrew and closed the door. As the carriage started moving I quickly looked back through the window and just saw his cloak fluttering in the wind as he was disappearing back into the temple. I sank back into the velvety seat of the carriage and sighed. Lost in thought, I listened to the rhythm of the horse’s hooves. They stopped a while later in front of the Inn. The temple guards gently helped me out as if I were royalty. I felt like a princess! They bowed to me, and I curtsied back. As I entered the Inn, I didn’t notice my fellow party member’s stunned faces. Dreamily I floated up the stairs to my room.
I have the freedom to soar anywhere,
Nothing ties me to this earth.

Except this hurt inside of me,
the brokenness of my soul

Holds me back
so solidly
I just cannot go on...

Keys on a Ring

Gaining experience or knowledge can be seen like adding keys to your key chain.

As you go through your journey of life, sometimes you have to remove a key or give up an old one, sometimes even more than one at a time to replace it with a better key or newer keys.


For example, when buying a new car, you have to give up your old car key because you sold it, but you add the new key or keys of your new car.

As we grow older and learn through life, either by mistakes or through other's mistakes, we replace the knowledge we had with new and better knowledge, or just add the knowledge we gained to our keychain of life.

A good deed a day, keeps bad karma at bay...


I know I'm not the charitable type. I don't give away money to beggars or donate to charity or welfare organizations. I don't give a damn about some snot nosed brat with a bloated tummy who doesn't have food or running water halfway around the world or even a few kilometers away.

Question...

After some recent events that aspired in my life a question arised... Maybe some of you can help shed some light for me on this matter:

When you have some very bad news you have to tell someone, and that person has just gone through a very rough ordeal, should you tell them immediately or wait a couple of days for them to recover a bit from the first ordeal before putting them through another bad thing in their life?

Which one will be more merciful?  My opinion: Wait a while for the person to recover from the first severe blow before giving them another one.  For me, it's like kicking a man in the balls after he just got run over by a car...

Change is in the air. Again!

Saturn and Uranus will be exactly opposite each other again on September 15, forming what is known as an 'opposition' in astrology -- two planets positioned 180 degrees apart. This is the third of five such oppositions that started on November 4, 2008, and it will continue until July 26, 2010. These oppositions always come in a cycle, and happen approximately every 45 years. The last time these two planets formed oppositions was 1965 to 1967, and before that from 1918 to 1920. Pluto Turns Direct

Pluto, the planet of transformation, has been retrograde since April 4 of this year, and turns direct in Capricorn on September 11.


Pluto is a tiny, distant body, invisible to the naked eye. Yet, Pluto is incredibly powerful, a force for total transformation, regeneration and rebirth. Pluto asks us to go beyond what we know, redeem ourselves in the process and come out stronger as a result. Pluto represents how we direct our lives.

It takes Pluto a whopping 248 years to complete a single cycle of rotation around the Sun. On average, it spends 21 years in each sign and 5 months of each year in retrograde.

During a Pluto retrograde period, we will feel pressured to eliminate and release the old, outworn, outdated and obsolete in our lives. We will be urged to let go of attitudes, thinking or communication patterns, security drives, and rigid emotions that no longer serve us. This is an excellent time to undergo an internal form of house cleaning, and look into ourselves to determine exactly what we do and do not need.
Now, after being retrograde for five months, Pluto turns direct on the 11th. This will accelerate progress in all your financial dealings including mortgages and loans, business endeavors and health-related activities. It's time to put your personal power to work in a positive way, too.
