Phases of the Moon for 2009

The following list gives the times of the phases of the Moon for 2009.
The predictions are accurate to one minute, and are given in South African Standard Time:

Note Dec 31  :O

October Forecast

We kick off the month of October astrologically with a full Moon in Aries on October 3. Watch out for heated conversations and people acting before they think. The trick with this volatile energy is to put it toward a good cause because you will easily advocate for yourself and others.
Mercury is busy as we start the month of October, which means you will have a lot on your mind. On October 4, Mercury sextiles Mars and creates a time of opportunity for us all. Now is the chance to get people interested in your ideas and projects. Then Mercury conjuncts Saturn on October 7 for the third time in this series, making this the perfect time to put the finishing touches on your plans. On October 7, this communicator planet enters Libra, when your attention shifts from work projects to social plans. Your ideas are challenged on October 10 as Mercury squares Pluto. Mercury trines Jupiter on the 20th, and big ideas and stimulating conversation can help you to plan for your future. Mercury forms another favorable trine -- this time with Neptune on the 24th -- forming one of the most creative, imaginative and even psychic combinations among our planets.
However, the biggest news of this month is Jupiter turning direct on the 12th. On the 10th, this generous planet of benevolence forms a supportive trine to the Sun providing us with an excellent networking bonanza. Then Jupiter turns direct in Aquarius on October 13, and the delays that may have hampered your progress now get a green light. Jupiter rules our potential for growth and expansion on many levels: physical, intellectual, spiritual and cultural, along with the accumulation of material assets, power and status. It also rules our optimism and aspirations.
Venus loves nothing better than being in its own sign -- Libra -- which it moves into on October 14. Even if you’re a loner by nature, this lovely transit (which will last until November 7) will lead you into the company of others. This is relationship-building time! A new Moon in Libra on the 17th will also give all lovebirds plenty of new energy. Use this new Moon energy to introduce something fresh and exciting into your relationship. Relationships are in the limelight again when Saturn moves into Libra on the 29th. Whether you’re married, seriously committed or single, you’re prompted to take your relationships more seriously.

Starstruck

Slow-moving Mercury turns direct in careful Virgo on September 29 while in a sextile to active Mars in sensitive Cancer. This aspect is in place for an unusually long time -- from September 30 through October 4. A full Harvest Moon in warrior Aries on October 3 brings heightened emotions into all conversations.

September 29: Mercury turns direct
When Mercury turned retrograde on September 6 in fair-minded Libra, you began a process of review especially concerning the well-being of your relationships. When retrograde Mercury re-entered analytical Virgo, your mind went into overdrive but you also got your facts gathered and sorted. Now, as Mercury turns direct and all of your folders and ideas are in order, it's time to communicate the details of what you want from others and from the world. Be specific for the best results.

September 30 and October 4: Mercury sextiles Mars
Do you have a message you want to get out to the world? Perhaps you would like to sell an article or book. Or, maybe you simply wish people would listen more carefully to what you have to say. When communicative Mercury and active Mars conspire, conversations get louder, a bit more strident and even inspiring. In this opportunity aspect, you have plenty of chances to get people interested in your projects. Because Mercury is moving slowly, your words have greater staying power than they would otherwise. So whether you IM, text, tweet or use the old-fashioned phone, get your ideas out there and watch what happens!

October 3: Full Moon in Aries
When a full Moon occurs in bold Aries, watch out for heated conversations that can escalate, combative posturing that goes further than one would prefer, and people acting before they think. On the other hand, because everyone feels so strongly at this time, your courage can help you move mountains that not too long ago would have seemed daunting! The trick with this volatile energy is to put it toward a good cause because you will easily advocate for yourself and others.

Memoirs of Rivien - Chapter I

I'm trying my hand at writing, and am busy writing the story of the adventures I partook in, in a Dungeons and Dragons game. It is written through the eyes of my character.

Here is the first chapter, please let me know what you think...

Chapter I
I was busy having breakfast in the Weeping Oak, reminiscing about our latest adventures when a smallish squire walked up to me.

“Lady Rivien, I have a note for you.” and handed me a piece of parchment.
“Thank you.” I smiled at him. “But if I may inquire, who sent the note?”
“Lord Darius” he replied.

I tipped him a copper piece and he quickly ran off. With a thumping heart I slowly opened it. It was a detailed map with directions on it and a time, seven that evening.
Wondering what this could mean, I paid my bill and went up to my room.

On the bed, the most beautiful evening gown lay spread out. It was an azure silk confection with dark blue chiffon over it that shimmered to black as it moved in my hands. A corset of the same hue accompanied it. It had rhinestones sewn into the trimming and the bodice which enhanced its beauty. A small note caught my eye. As I opened it, two words were written on it:

I decided that I had to bath before I could slip into the fancy gown. I almost ran to the bathhouse. Giddily, I added bath oils to the warm water and slowly lowered myself in. A couple of women appeared and attempted to start wash my hair.

“What are you doing?!”
“Shush deary, we have been sent to help you get ready!”
“By whom?!”
“Now, now. Not to worry. A very handsome young man has requested this for you.” She sighed. ”I wish I had such a handsome lad who spoiled me rotten…”

I relaxed and gave in to their capable hands and started daydreaming about the evening’s events.
The ladies gave me a manicure, pedicure and did my hair very fancy up. Skilfully they applied make-up to my face and then helped me into the evening gown and fastened the corset very, very tight.

As it was nearing seven, I gracefully descended the stairs. In the inn below, a few of my fellow adventurers were enjoying dinner. Thomas’ and Sway’s chins dropped as they saw me. They almost didn’t recognize me. Both of them walked over.
“You look really beautiful, milady.” Sway said in awe. Thomas, the bard also complimented my exquisiteness, saying, “A rose by any other name, could not compare to you tonight”
With a thank you and a big smile I went out and started to follow the map. It led me to the magnificent Temple of Helm. I went in and ascended a staircase. A few steps up I noticed red rose petals strewn in a trail leading up. As I climbed the last step and looked up, I stopped dead in my tracks. The whole floor was covered in red and pink rose petals! Fairy lights softly illuminated the scene. The sight that met my eyes included a magnificent view of the sun disappearing behind the mountains. In the far corner, partly hidden by shadows, a tall handsome figure stood with his back to me. My heart leapt as I realized it was Darius. He had donned his full ceremonial clerical vestments and looked more dashing than ever. Darius slowly turned around and smiled. My knees felt like jelly. He moved towards me and elegantly complimented me as he gave me a hundred red roses. Speechless, I could only blush. I was led to the table and he helped me getting seated. Both of us were a little uncertain of what to do in this awkward situation. As we were sipping wine and idly chatting, waiters came in, bearing wine and a great delicacy. It was mushrooms, crumbed, with a delicate aroma; we both enjoyed it very much. We slowly completed a five- course meal, chatting and laughing and having a marvelous time.

After dinner he helped me out of my chair like a true gentleman and gave me his arm as we descended the stairs. Outside the temple a pristine white carriage, trimmed in ebony was awaiting me. Four temple guards in full armor were waiting with it, to escort me home. As he helped me into the carriage, Darius slowly lowered his head, closer to mine. I raised mine in anticipation. Just as our lips would have met, he quickly and naturally turned his head and planted a soft kiss on my cheek. He then withdrew and closed the door. As the carriage started moving I quickly looked back through the window and just saw his cloak fluttering in the wind as he was disappearing back into the temple. I sank back into the velvety seat of the carriage and sighed. Lost in thought, I listened to the rhythm of the horse’s hooves. They stopped a while later in front of the Inn. The temple guards gently helped me out as if I were royalty. I felt like a princess! They bowed to me, and I curtsied back. As I entered the Inn, I didn’t notice my fellow party member’s stunned faces. Dreamily I floated up the stairs to my room.
I have the freedom to soar anywhere,
Nothing ties me to this earth.

Except this hurt inside of me,
the brokenness of my soul

Holds me back
so solidly
I just cannot go on...

What if...

What if you slept?
And what if, in your sleep, you dreamt?

And what if, in your dream you went to a garden and there plucked a strange and beautiful flower?

And what if, when you awake, you held the flower in your hand?
Ah..., what if...

...lost innocence and the cynicism of adulthood

It is like to be exiled from your homeland, persecuted for your true nature. Being unable to express the sublime beauty welling forth from your soul.

You will know what it is like to be alone in a crowd, to be aware of the power of dreams and to be able to tap the power of magick.

And you will learn what it is like to be helpless in the arms of The Fates and be unable to stop the crushing weight of Banality from robbing your memory of all you have discovered…

Changeling

Judge us not by our seemings
For we are never what we appear.

Come hither, changelings
and join the dream-dance,
lest the winter come
and the Dreaming pass into memory.

Recall your heritage!
Let the games begin!

Saw this on the back of a roleplaying book...

Keys on a Ring

Gaining experience or knowledge can be seen like adding keys to your key chain.

As you go through your journey of life, sometimes you have to remove a key or give up an old one, sometimes even more than one at a time to replace it with a better key or newer keys.

For example, when buying a new car, you have to give up your old car key because you sold it, but you add the new key or keys of your new car.

As we grow older and learn through life, either by mistakes or through other's mistakes, we replace the knowledge we had with new and better knowledge, or just add the knowledge we gained to our keychain of life.

Love quotes

"Gravitation is not responsible for people falling in love." - Albert Einstein

"You'll discover that real love is millions of miles past falling in love with anyone or anything. When you make that one effort to feel compassion instead of blame or self-blame, the heart opens again and continues opening." - Sara Paddison

"Never frown when you are sad, you never know who is falling in love with your smile."

A good deed a day, keeps bad karma at bay...

I know I'm not the charitable type. I don't give away money to beggars or donate to charity or welfare organizations. I don't give a damn about some snot nosed brat with a bloated tummy who doesn't have food or running water halfway around the world or even a few kilometers away.

But one thing I deeply care about, is animals. So I tried to do my bit of good deeds by giving free food to animals.  (And it doesn't cost a thing.)  Click here to go to the website, then just click on the big purple button to help give food...

Did I menion it's free? ^__^

Question...

After some recent events that aspired in my life a question arised... Maybe some of you can help shed some light for me on this matter:

When you have some very bad news you have to tell someone, and that person has just gone through a very rough ordeal, should you tell them immediately or wait a couple of days for them to recover a bit from the first ordeal before putting them through another bad thing in their life?

Which one will be more merciful?  My opinion: Wait a while for the person to recover from the first severe blow before giving them another one.  For me, it's like kicking a man in the balls after he just got run over by a car...

Celebrate the Equinox

Happy Spring Equinox everyone!

On September 22, the Sun enters Libra, marking the autumnal equinox in the northern hemisphere, and the vernal equinox in the southern hemisphere.
The word ‘equinox’ is derived from the Latin word that means ‘equal’ and Libra is a sign that is interested in fairness and equality. It is time to compromise, and those who know how to conduct themselves with poise will be miles ahead of everybody else. Meet people halfway when possible and seek common ground rather than highlight your differences. The Sun also squares Pluto now, intensifying all of your relationships. Yet, at heart, Libra is a social sign and relationship oriented, making this a perfect juncture to reach out and spend quality time with those you love!

On the day I was born...

Change is in the air. Again!

Saturn and Uranus will be exactly opposite each other again on September 15, forming what is known as an 'opposition' in astrology -- two planets positioned 180 degrees apart. This is the third of five such oppositions that started on November 4, 2008, and it will continue until July 26, 2010. These oppositions always come in a cycle, and happen approximately every 45 years. The last time these two planets formed oppositions was 1965 to 1967, and before that from 1918 to 1920. The Saturn-Uranus opposition that sent us on a roller coaster ride last fall and earlier this year returns for an encore to evoke more major shifts, both in your personal life and globally. Think back to November 2008 and February 2009 - what was happening in your life back then?

You may be in for another round of changes - this month and beyond - which will no doubt accelerate your personal growth. It isn't always fun, but it's sometimes necessary.

Saturn is the planet of authority and experience, and represents the tough and conservative disciplinarian, while Uranus is wild and unconventional -- the maverick planet of change. Saturn rules the status quo, while Uranus rules reform.

Saturn and Uranus are mortal enemies in mythology, and their combined energies in astrology signal tension and transformation. Issues that have been festering beneath the surface emerge, and the rules of the game shift. Uranus energy brings innovation through instability. Sudden and unexpected events shake our foundations and force us to look at things in a new way.

In order to make wise decisions during these times, we need to look at where Saturn and Uranus is located in our charts to help us assess where to make changes in our lives, and how to break out of established routines. Astrology shows us the themes that are in play, and guides us by providing important information. Yet, we are the ones who have to decide what to do with that data.

Life's little quirks...

Life has a funny way of giving us a few hints as to what the next lesson should involve, where to improve in your life or what changes you need to make to stay on the right course.

Should we fail to head the warning or hint or we do what is necessary, then life has a funny way of teaching you or shoving you in the right way – the HARD way.

Pluto Turns Direct

Pluto, the planet of transformation, has been retrograde since April 4 of this year, and turns direct in Capricorn on September 11.

Pluto is a tiny, distant body, invisible to the naked eye. Yet, Pluto is incredibly powerful, a force for total transformation, regeneration and rebirth. Pluto asks us to go beyond what we know, redeem ourselves in the process and come out stronger as a result. Pluto represents how we direct our lives.

It takes Pluto a whopping 248 years to complete a single cycle of rotation around the Sun. On average, it spends 21 years in each sign and 5 months of each year in retrograde.

During a Pluto retrograde period, we will feel pressured to eliminate and release the old, outworn, outdated and obsolete in our lives. We will be urged to let go of attitudes, thinking or communication patterns, security drives, and rigid emotions that no longer serve us. This is an excellent time to undergo an internal form of house cleaning, and look into ourselves to determine exactly what we do and do not need.
Now, after being retrograde for five months, Pluto turns direct on the 11th. This will accelerate progress in all your financial dealings including mortgages and loans, business endeavors and health-related activities. It's time to put your personal power to work in a positive way, too.
Enlist the energies of your progressed chart to understand where to focus your energies for maximum return. The continual movement of the planets through your life affects the events that shape your future. A progressed chart locates the signs, the aspects and the house positions for each of the planets for any given year and tells you how long they will remain in those positions. These changes show you when to act on the potential revealed by your natal chart and when to embrace growth in your life. Awareness of your progressed chart helps you to make informed decisions about every aspect of your life.
